What to Pack for Your RV Trip in Canada

Packlist RV trip

Packing for an RV trip can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. The good news is that what you need to bring depends a lot on whether you book a Convenience Kit or choose Kitchen Utensils Only with your RV rental.

One of the great things about travelling in Canada is experiencing different climates along the way. You might enjoy warm sunny days, fresh mountain air in the evenings, and the occasional refreshing rain shower. With the right clothing and a few smart packing choices, you can stay comfortable no matter where your road trip takes you.

What’s Included in the Convenience Kit (booked per Person)

If you book the Convenience Kit, most of the bulky essentials are already taken care of. The kit is booked per person and includes bedding, household items and kitchen equipment, such as:

Bedding & Comfort (per person)

  • Bed sheet
  • Duvet
  • Fleece blanket
  • Pillow and pillowcase
  • 1 hand towel
  • 2 bath towels
  • Lawn chair

Household Items & Tools (per vehicle)

  • Axe
  • Broom and dustpan
  • Bucket
  • Clothes hangers and clothes pins
  • First Aid Kit
  • Flashlight
  • Fly swatter
  • Gas lighter
  • Wastebasket

Kitchen Equipment (per vehicle)

  • Pots, pans and kettle
  • Plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery
  • Coffee mugs and thermos or French press
  • Cutting board, colander and vegetable peeler
  • Cooking utensils
  • Dish cloth, sponge and dish soap
  • Toaster
  • Salt and pepper set
  • Can opener and corkscrew
  • Microwave-safe container

With the Convenience Kit, you don’t need to pack or shop for bedding, towels or kitchen equipment — which saves space in your luggage and lets you start your holiday right away.

What’s Included with Kitchen Utensils Only

If you choose Kitchen Utensils Only, your RV will be equipped with kitchen equipment for the whole vehicle, such as:

  • Pots, pans and kettle
  • Plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery
  • Coffee mugs and thermos or French press
  • Cutting board, colander and vegetable peeler
  • Cooking utensils
  • Dish cloth, sponge and dish soap
  • Toaster
  • Salt and pepper set
  • Can opener and corkscrew
  • Microwave-safe container

⚠️ Please note:

When booking Kitchen Utensils Only, bedding, towels and household items are not included and must be brought by the guest.

You can choose not to book the Convenience Kit or Kitchen Set and simply bring your own bedding, kitchen items, and essentials.

What You Still Need to Pack

No matter which option you choose, you will still need to bring your personal items, clothes and food.

Bedding to Bring (If Not Booking the Convenience Kit)

If you did not book the Convenience Kit, please remember to pack:

  • Sheets
  • Pillows and pillowcases
  • Blankets or sleeping bags
  • Towels

Clothing: Be Ready for All Kinds of Days

Canada’s climate is part of the adventure. Warm afternoons, cool evenings and crisp mornings are common, especially when travelling through national parks and mountain regions. Packing in layers means you can enjoy every part of the day comfortably.

Tops

  • T-shirts for sunny day
  • Long-sleeve shirts for cooler mornings
  • Sweater or fleece
  • Hoodie
  • Light insulated jacket
  • Rain jacket or windbreaker

Bottoms

  • Comfortable travel pants
  • Hiking pants
  • Jeans or casual pants
  • Shorts
  • Sleepwear
  • Thermal leggings (helpful in early or late season)

Shoes & Accessories

You’ll likely spend lots of time outdoors, whether you’re exploring towns, hiking trails or relaxing at your campsite.

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Hiking shoes or boots
  • Sandals or flip-flops (for showers or lakes)
  • Warm socks
  • Hat or cap
  • Light gloves and a beanie (nice for evenings in higher elevations)
  • Sunglasses

Swim & Outdoor Gear

From mountain lakes to hot springs and beaches, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water.

  • Swimsuit
  • Quick-dry towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Bear Spray
  • Mosquito Spray

Personal & Daily Essentials

No matter which kit you book, make sure to pack:

  • Toiletries
  • Medication/supplements
  • Travel documents
  • Phone chargers and power bank
  • Reusable water bottles
  • Small backpack or daypack

Power & Electronics (Important for International Travellers)

Canada uses 110–120 volts with Type A and Type B plugs (the same as the USA).

If you are travelling from Europe, the UK, Australia or other regions, you will need to bring a plug adapter or voltage converter for your electronics such as:

  • Phone chargers
  • Camera batteries
  • Hair dryers or styling tools
  • Laptop

A universal travel adapter with voltage conversion is the easiest option.

Our Packing Tip

If you’re flying into Canada or prefer to travel light, the Convenience Kit is the most comfortable option, as it includes bedding, towels and kitchen equipment for each person.

If you choose Kitchen Utensils Only, make sure you plan ahead and bring your own bedding and towels.

Of course, you are also welcome to bring all your own equipment if you prefer — from bedding to kitchen gear. This can be a great option if you are travelling with your own camping supplies or want to use items you already know and love.

For clothing, think of your suitcase as a mini wardrobe for different kinds of days. Layers make it easy to enjoy warm sunshine, fresh mountain air and cozy evenings at your campsite — all part of the RV experience.
